Why Performing Arts?
Star believes that when students perform in front of an audience
they develop character skills that  last far beyond the cheers of a
crowd. Our performers learn to be leaders, build self confidence,
work as a team, and much more.

We encourage students to develop  their performance skills and
participate in community performing opportunities that most children never experience.

Currently over 60% of students in our performing arts program perform outside of school in a variety of venues, including:

  • Models in fashion shows and store windows;
  • Singing the National Anthem for the Phoenix Suns, Roadrunners, Diamondbacks, Cubs, and Mercury;
  • Perform as a featured group at Disneyland, Queen Mary, and Knottsberry Farm;
  • Our students have been invited to do a European tour In 2009 .

We offer performance electives that are open to all Sequoia Choice students.
We provide students with:
  • Individualized learning and differentiated instruction
  • Provide a learning environment that will encourage independent and critical thinking skills
  • An accredited standards-based educational curriculum that provides interactive, self-paced, challenging, engaging activities
  • Project-based activities to promote exploration, individual and cooperative learning, problem solving, reflection, and real-world connections
  • Research-based curriculum
  • Performing Arts Electives

Star is a year round program that enables students to enroll anytime.  Although our lab does take a break from June to mid August, students can, and usually do, choose to continue their studies at home with our online classes and summer teachers.
